On the mountain of Rogdia we have an access-point for 5GHz WiFi 802.11a/n using a sectoral antenna overlooking the city of Heraklion.

Why a node on the mountain?[edit]

The signal is not very strong, the distance to some of the nodes is quite far and there are a large number of clients connected to that access-point, so it is not an ideal situation and not recommended to connect to this node, unless there's absolutely no other alternative. That node on the mountain can be understood as a fall-back emergency solution for those who want to connect, but who have no other peer to connect to. It acts as a catalytic to give the possibility to connect more nodes in the area of Heraklion, which should then later connect to each other as soon as they can when the density of nodes in Heraklion increases.
